Life along the Ganges, a short essay

Harry Fisch

River Ganges India

A short photograhic essay on Varanasi and the mystical life along the Ganges. Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities in the world. The holiest of all pilgrimages. It’s the Jerusalem or Lalibela of India. The place where Budha himself came to teach. It was already known 2.500 years ago, before Rome had bekome known. It’s the only city that maintains the same traditions since the 6th Century B.C. In the ghats, along the river Ganges, between temples and shrines, you can feel the drama and beauty of life and death. This is were pilgrims from all over India come to worship and bath.

Photo tour to Myanmar, Inle Lake

Harry Fisch

Myanmar Photo Tour

I instinctively cover the bag that protects the cameras with my body. Another boat with three photographers and Nini-so –our guide – follows behind. We have been inside the channel for just over twenty minutes. The forecast indicates that at noon, in just a few hours, the thermometer will reach 90° Farenheit.
