Tim Gerard Barker (born in 1982) is an Australian photographer and filmmaker, based in Vietnam since 2012. He has spent a great part of his life traveling and pursuing his passion for photography. His work is driven by his desire to understand different cultures and to experience new places. Tim’s travel imagery is represented by the Lonely Planet Images collection at Getty Images and he is also a stringer for Getty Images News. His work has garnered numerous awards over the years, with citations in the International Photography awards, Australia’s Top Photographers and Travel Photographer of the Year. After his studies in photography at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Tim worked with the Fairfax Community Network for a few years before moving to London where he developed his love of film while working with some of the UK's top production companies.

In 2012, Tim was drawn to Southeast Asia due to his interest in developing stories about the wildlife trade. Since then, he has worked on photographic & film projects on the illegal trade of dogs and bear bile in Vietnam. For his work on the bear bile trade in Vietnam he recieved First Place at the International Photography Awards in the Editorial Photo Essay & Feature Story in 2014 and he was also a deeper perspective finalist with the same series. In 2014 and in 2010 he was a finalist in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition.

His travel imagery is represented by the Lonely Planet Images Collection at Getty Images and he also shoots as a stringer for Getty Images News. For commercial work he is represented by NOI Pictures and Getty Images Global Assignment. He is also supported by Wonderful Machine.
