Bhutan Two Festivals Photo Tour

Join me on a 11 day Bhutan Photo Tour to capture the magic of the country’s three most renown festivals: Thimphu, Ganthey and Tangbi Nabi. And a spectacular extension, should you choose it, to Nepal, Kathmandu Valley.

This is no ordinary tourist trip, but an authentic journey not only across the country’s borders, but the borders of its history. Nestled high in the mountains between China and India is the Dragon Kingdom of Bhuhtan; a touristically uncharted and mystical destination.

Come with us, and you’ll step across the veil and experience the magic of the last Mahayana Buddhist kingdom of the Himalaya, hiking along the hills and steppes, discovering ancient dzongs, getting up close and personal with locals and their families, even spend time photographing the tranquillity found inside the many monasteries dotting the land.

Visit the Post Singular Bhutan Photo Tour to have a better idea. We will embark on a journey of epic proportions across the mountains of the Dragon Kingdom. Documenting the day to day lives of people  living and working in this small structure set deep into the verdant Phobjikha valley.

A  10-day Photo tour of Bhutan to capture with our cameras the magic of two of the country’s most renowned festivals. An authentic journey not only across the country’s borders, but the borders of its history. Nestled high in the mountains between China and India is the Dragon Kingdom of Bhutan; an uncharted and mystical destination.

This tour focuses on two incredible religious festivals Tsechus and the breathtaking landscape of mist rolling across verdant hills and valleys, among the color-splashed farmhouses and steppe terraces.  And, of course, and always,  the people. Whether it is connecting and capturing the daily life of a devout monk living high in a mountain temple or a farmer and his family working fields and livestock, you will have a chance to connect with them, know them, and tell their story with your photographs.

Druk Yul or the ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon,’ as called by the Bhutanese, is a land replete with myths and legends. The mountains are magnificent, the forests are dense, the people are delightful, the air is pure, the architecture inspiring, the religion exciting, and the art superb.

We will discover ancient dzongs, get up close and personal with locals and their families, and spend time photographing the tranquillity found inside the many monasteries dotting the land.

Like timeless images from the past, we will encounter the full glory of this ancient land through its strategic fortresses known as Dzongs, numerous ancient temples, monasteries, and stupas that dot the countryside, prayer flags fluttering along the high ridges, wild animals abounding in dense forests, foamy white waterfalls serving as ethereal showers, and the warm smiles of its friendly people. Each moment is special as one discovers a country that the people have chosen to preserve in its magical purity.

The best thing for me about my trip to India was the staff. it wasn’t some academic kind of ordeal. I really didn’t want a trip that was going to be an ‘educational’ vacation. They did help me when needed, and the photo review sessions were great – I loved seeing everyone else’s shots and talking about them. But I was happy also that I got to do my own thing and that we weren’t locked into a strict routine. We saw a lot of interesting and curious things, and I’d like to go back and explore the places I didn’t get a chance to go.

This quiet, remote valley is the winter home of black-necked cranes, which migrate from the arid plains of Tibet in the north, to pass the winter months in a milder climate. The birds start arriving here from Nov onwards and usually stay till early March.

The valley of Gangtey is one of the most beautiful spots in Bhutan.
